KillaWeed - founder of Dun Graduated Entertainment

Who is KillaWeed?

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, KillaWeed aka JoePro grew up in the streets listening to hip hop, cyphers, battles, b boys, and anything that had to do with Hip Hop. Around the time he began listening to hip hop, Wu-Tang just dropped their first single - “Protect Ya Neck”. This is where Killa began to memorize the verses and spit them back over the instrumental. If you remember, the instrumental tape included 3 track, dirty, clean, and instrumental. Also influences by Warren G/Nate Dogg – Regulators, of course 2pac and Biggie and much more.
It wasn't until 1998 when KillaWeed joined a underground hip hop crew called “Dark Skies” where they would go to open mics and let their presence known by battling the best. The most notable open mics where Uptown Records Open Mics in Ansonia, CT. This was a semi-monthly event where hundreds of emcees would show up for a chance to grab 1 of the three mics and spit their rhymes. The record store would close down in an afternoon, and the owner Rich, would set up 2 turntables and 3 mics spinning hot beats for all the emcees to get on. After each show, everybody was able to get a free copy of the recorded open mic on cassette tape and hear each other.
After making a buzz and getting heard around, KillaWeed began to venture into more established well known battles. In 2000 K-Dub got his opportunity to battle with New York Greats at the Wetlands Emcee Battle Tourneys, where he battled with some of the best, including Icon The Mic King, and much more. Around the same time, Killa also got into the RockSteady Annual Mc Battle at Fat Beats Records in New York, battling legendary battler Jin the Emcee.
KillaWeed would occasionally show up at the END OF THE WEEK also known as EOW open mic every Sunday night in New York to perform a song. This is where he would be in cyphers with some of the best emcees in the game including - Immortal Technique, C-Rayz Walz, Lou Cypher, Kwote Scriptures, Icon the Mic King, Pack FM, Poisen Pen, Jin the Mc, and much more.
Between 2000 – and 2003, KillaWeed had entered over a 30 battles, including legendary battles such as – 2001 – Biscuithead Records Emcee Battle in Bosten, Ma, 2001 – Superbowl Emcee Battle in Bosten, Ma, University of Bridgeport Emcee Battles (Bridgeport, CT), Unveristy of Northern Connecticut Emcee Battle, Club Kangaroos Emcee Battle (Milford, Ct), and many others.
It wasn't until 2004 when KillaWeed really made a name for himself after winning the Radio station – HOT 93.7 Emcee battle tournament with a cash prize and being the champion for 3 weeks in a row. The forth week he did not show up because he already had a vacation booked to Miami, FL, where he would end up moving months later.
Now KillaWeed is focusing on making music, recording mixtapes, original tracks, doing performances, shows, freestyle battles, and anything Hip Hop related. Over the past 12 years, he has recorded over 200 tracks, and is only getting better and better. He is not in the game for the money, but for the love of hip hop. He makes music for himself and all his followers that love to hear him
